The Bioeconomy Accelerator Programme is designed for both emerging and established companies principally in the life sciences and ag biotech sectors in Malaysia.
There are 20 slots available for the programme, 10 from the Life Sciences sector, and 10 from the Agriculture sector, divided between two phases, all of which is discussed below.
The programme will kick off in Malaysia in January 2015, and will continue until September 2015. Each group of identified companies via the tracks discussed below has a designated minimum and maximum period during which participants are expected to be involved.
The programme was successfully developed as a pilot programme in 2009. It is designed to provide participants with an enhanced commercialisation profile in the marketplace, both within the ASEAN region, in the U.S. and across the globe, to enhance their commercial profile, further their commercial potential and increase their appeal to partners, buyers and collaborators. For BiotechCorp., this represents a critical opportunity to brand Malaysia as a hub for both industry and investment in the "Bioeconomy".
There are two phases in the programme:
Phase I - LaunchPad: All participants will go through a 7-month customised mentoring programme to increase participants’ understanding and awareness level of commercialisation processes and issues relating to their respective innovation. This phase includes critical feedback from relevant industry executives in formal sessions with the following characteristics:
Phase II - U.S. Soft Landing: 10 Participants (5 from each sectors) will have the opportunity to receive additional mentoring and attend a key event in the United States appropriate for the sector, with planned meetings at both venues with strategic partners/customer prospects.
